April 12, 2023 – Delaware Hayes High School: Dublin Scioto fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-3 loss to the Pacers on Wednesday. Hayes took the lead in the second inning and didn’t look back.
In that second, Delaware got their offense started when Taylor Henry induced Kasey Beswick to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Dublin notched three runs in the sixth inning — Bella Jauregui cracked her second home run in as many games.
Bronwynn Leighty got the win for Hayes. The ace lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out 14 and walking zero.
Henry was in the pitcher’s circle for the Irish. Henry allowed eight hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six.
Scioto had the one home run the day when Jauregui went deep in the sixth inning, adding 3 RBIs to her total.
Henry and Jauregui each managed one hit to lead Dublin Scioto Varsity Irish.
Rylea Gist went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Hayes in hits.
JV Update: The Scioto Junior Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 19-2 loss to the Pacers. They had a tough time defensively containing Hayes, giving up 19 runs. Most of those runs coming in the second inning. Sophia Jackson was on the rubber for the Irish. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing 11 hits while striking out two and walking one. Mariam Sowe and Jackson led the team in hitting with one each.
