April 13, 2023 – Dublin Scioto High School:  Our Irish easily cracked the Big Walnut Golden Eagles 11-3 on Thursday.

Big Walnut got things moving in the first inning when an error scored one run.

But the Irish pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third Bella Jauregui hit a solo homer and Hunter Fadorsen singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Scioto put up four runs in the fifth inning.  Fadorsen, Leah Matter, Kyla Sanders, and Jauregui powered the big inning with RBIs.

Lexie Richie led the Irish to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one.  Taylor Henry threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ava Thornhill was in the pitcher’s circle for Big Walnut. The bulldog allowed 17 hits and 11 runs over six innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Scioto launched the one previously-mentioned home run on the day, making it the third game in a row Jauregui has gone yard! No wonder she’s up for Athlete of the Week over on the Columbus Dispatch poll!

The Irish racked up 17 hits on the day.! Matter, Jauregui, Fadorsen, Kaitlyn Zimmerman, Henry, and Sandra Phrakornkham all had multiple hits for Dublin.  Matter led team with three hits in four at bats.

Elaine Truax went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Big Walnut in hits.

JV Update: The team fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 17-1 loss to Big Walnut Junior Varsity. Sophia Jackson was in the circle for Scioto. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowed nine hits, but did to strike out three. Jackson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dublin in hits.

Makeup game for the varsity on Friday against Worthington Kilbourne! Come out and support the girls in another epic “Battle of Hard Road!”

We’ll see you out there!

Go Irish!
