April 27, 2023 – Dublin Scioto High School: The Irish fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 1-0 loss to Delaware Hayes on Thursday. The Pacers took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Hayes pitchers struck out eight, while Scioto sat down 14.
Delaware opened up scoring in the first inning, when Lizzy Gould singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
A single by Faith Kinzer in the first inning was a positive for Dublin.
Bronwynn Leighty earned the win for the Pacers. She allowed six hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Taylor Henry took the loss for Dublin. The bulldog surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking zero.
The Irish tallied six hits. Kinzer and Leah Matter each collected multiple hits for the Irish, with two apiece, to lead the team. Henry and Magnussen also had hits. The team had a chance with bases loaded and no outs in the sixth inning, but a double play hurt their chances. The Irish left 6 runners on base during the game.
JV Update: The junior varsity Irish watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 22-0 loss to Delaware Hayes on Thursday. The team struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hayes. Vicky Kurpita was a bright spot in the first inning with a single. Sophia Jackson was in the circle for Scioto. The pitcher went five innings, allowing 22 runs on 14 hits and striking out three.
