May 1, 2023 – Big Walnut High School: Four runs batted in from Lexie Richie helped lead Scioto past Big Walnut 10-1 on Thursday. Richie drove in runs on a triple in the first and a home run in the fifth.
The Irish opened up scoring in the first inning. Bella Jauregui grounded out, scoring one run.
Taylor Henry led the Irish to victory in the circle. The ace went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out five and walking zero. Richie threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Reza Benson took the loss for Big Walnut. The hurler went five and a third innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits and striking out one.
Scioto hit one home run on the day. Richie went for the long ball in the fifth inning.
Dublin racked up nine hits. Jauregui, Richie, and Sandra Phrakornkham all had multiple hits for Scioto, each collecting two hits to lead the team.
JV Update: The JV Irish fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 2-0 loss to Big Walnut on Thursday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Big Walnut pitchers struck out eight, while Scioto sat down four.
Sophia Jackson started the game for the Irish. The hurler surrendered two runs on two hits over six innings, striking out four and walking zero. Haley and Mariam Sowe each managed one hit to lead the team.
