March 12, 2024 – Olentangy Orange High School: The Dublin Scioto varsity squad couldn’t keep up with Olentangy Orange team and fell 8-0 on Tuesday at their high school.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two walks. Olentangy Orange first got on the board when Gauri Naik drew a walk, sconng one run.
They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Kaleigh Zag singled, scoring one run, Elaina Massaro singled, scoring another, and Lauren Diehr tripled, scoring two runs.
Naik earned the win for the Pioneers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hitsand no runs over five innnings, striking out nine and walking none.
Lexie Richie took the loss for Dublin. The righthander went five and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits, striking out five and walking eight. Sophia Jackson came on in relief at the end of the game for an inning and gave up no runs or hits as the defense came on strong.
Richie and Maria Wasko each collected two hits for the Irish. Gigi Rodriguez also had a hit.
Gabriela Tiberi led Olentangy with two hits in two at bats. Diehr went 1-for-1 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. The Orange had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.
Isabel Wilson and Leah Weaver led the team with two free passes each. Olentangy turned one double play in the game. The Pioneers were surehanded and didn’t commit a single error. Emily Rodenberg made the most plays with nine.
