Huge 1st Inning Seals Deal for Irish in Scrimmage with Grandview

March 21, 2024

March 21, 2004 – Dublin Scioto High School: The Irish defeated Grandview Heights 17-5 on Wednesday, thanks in part to 12 runs in the first inning.

Lean Matter singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Lyla Magnussen doubled, scoring two runs, Sophia Jackson singled, scoring one run, Gina Wasko tripled, scoring three runs, Lexie Richie singled, scoring one run, and Maria Wasko singled, scoring two runs.

Grandview Heights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Keelyn Stackhouse walked, Ejheni Mdivanian grounded out, and Eryn O’Harra walked, each scoring one run.

Scioto added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after the Bobcats committed an error, Hahni Miller singled, Masnussen walked, and the Bobcats committed an error, each scoring a run.

Richi earned the win for Scioto. She gave up three hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out 13 and walking five.

Madelyn Smith took the loss for Grandview Heights. Their hurler went one and one-third innings, surrendering 12 runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking five.

The Irish accumulated 11 hits in the game. Matter, G. Wasko, and M. Wasko each collected two hits for Scioto. Matter, Magnussen, and Wasko each drove in three runs for the Irish. They worked the count all day, tallying six walks.

Mdivanian drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Bobcats with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day. O’Harra paced Grandview Heights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Grandview turned one double play in the game.

Scioto Varsity and JV are back on the fields this Saturday for a Triad game!
