April 9, 2024 – Big Walnut High School: In a tightly contested pitching duel on Tuesday, Scioto fell short against Big Walnut Golden Eagles, succumbing to a 3-0 defeat.
The Irish’s Lexie Richie took the mound, delivering a commendable performance by striking out 10 and allowing just four hits across six innings, though she did give up three runs and four walks.
The pivotal moment came in the third inning when Big Walnut capitalized on a fielder’s choice by K. Holmes and a costly error by Scioto, each bringing home a run.
S. Adams clinched the win for Big Walnut with a stellar performance, surrendering only one hit and zero runs, while striking out seven over six innings.
At the plate, Sandra Phrakornkham stood out for the Irish with a hit in three at-bats, and Richie demonstrated patience, earning two walks. Despite the loss, Scioto showed discipline, tallying five walks in total.
Big Walnut’s offensive effort was distributed, with I. Lassiter, Holmes, F. Traux, and R. Benson each securing a hit. Lassiter was particularly effective, driving in a run and finishing the day 1-for-3 at the plate. Defensively, Big Walnut was flawless, with G.
