Senior Night Spectacle: Scioto’s Swinging Success!

April 19, 2024

April 18, 2024 – Dublin Scioto High School: Ladies and gents, gather ’round for a tale of the diamond where the Irish of Scioto High made a fine spectacle on Senior Night, honoring their soon-to-be graduates with grandeur before the first pitch was even thrown!

The sun was a friendly companion, casting its golden glow as each young lady stepped forward with her family, her future bright as the evening light, revealing plans grander than a home run trot around the bases.

Then, the main event!

The Irish took on the Golden Falcons of Franklin Heights in a thrilling contest that saw the home team erupt for eight runs in the second inning alone!

A parade of hits from Sophia Jackson and Sandra Phrakornkham, coupled with a few generous misplays by the Falcons, set the stage for Lexie Richie’s mighty triple that sent the crowd into a frenzy!

Not to be outdone, Lyla Magnussen’s bat spoke loudly with a two-run single, sending the Irish well on their way to a commanding 14-4 victory over Franklin Heights.

Miss Richie, the star fireballer for the evening, was a marvel on the mound, surrendering but a single hit over three sterling innings, with six batters sent back to the pine with nothing but air in their swings.

On the flip side, Franklin Heights’ own Calaya Salley was tasked with stemming the green tide, but despite her valiant effort, the day belonged to Scioto.

With bats a-blazing, the Irish tallied ten hits, with Jackson and Richie swinging like the Sultan of Swat, tallying three ribbies and three hits respectively.

As the sun dipped low, the Irish looked ahead, their eyes set on a rematch on the Falcons made o’ gold’s home turf come Friday.

Stay tuned, sports fans, for this saga is to be continued under the bright lights of tomorrow!

Give ’em that moxie, ladies!
