Dublin Scioto High School – March 18, 2025: Dublin’s bats came alive in a monstrous third inning, plating eight runs on their way to a commanding 13-5 victory over Westerville Central on Tuesday.
The scoring barrage was fueled by a combination of patience and power—an error brought in one run, Gina Wasko laced an RBI single, Lyla Magnussen worked a bases-loaded walk, and Avery Reynolds roped a two-run double. Maria Wasko chipped in with a run-scoring groundout, and Sophia Jackson showed discipline at the plate, drawing a bases-loaded walk to keep the rally rolling.
The Irish got things started in the second, breaking the seal with a pair of clutch singles. Alexis Richie delivered the big hit, driving in two to put Dublin on the board.
On the mound, Reynolds was lights-out, tossing 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. The right-hander kept Westerville Central off balance, allowing just one hit while striking out four and issuing zero free passes.
At the dish, Dublin racked up 10 hits, with Richie and Reynolds proving to be a nightmare for opposing pitchers—each drove in three runs. Reynolds was a perfect 3-for-3, leading the offensive charge. Gina Wasko added a pair of hits in five trips to the plate, while Jackson showcased her patience, working three walks. Magnussen, Richie and Abbi Clark were also patient at the plate with 2 walks each. The Irish also kept the pressure on the basepaths, swiping four bags.
For the Warhawks, Haley Hickok was a tough out, going a perfect 3-for-3. Jess Hickok, Christelle Mosier, Hannah P, and Samantha L each knocked in a run. Westerville Central made their mark on the basepaths as well, racking up six stolen bases, with Hickok and P leading the charge.
Dublin now looks ahead to their next challenge—a showdown at Hilliard Davidson and with Bishop Ready on Saturday. The Irish Junior Varsity play tonight at home!
