Dublin Scioto High School, April 14, 2025: On a sunny, bright Monday evening, Avery Reynolds took the circle and delivered a dominant performance that left Big Walnut flailing and the scoreboard silent. The ace for Dublin was untouchable, striking out 13 batters en route to a no-hitter and a commanding 4-0 win over the Eagles.
Reynolds went the distance, tossing a complete-game shutout across seven innings. She allowed just three walks while keeping Big Walnut hitless, silencing bats and building momentum with each strikeout.
The Irish offense backed her early. In the bottom of the second, Gina Wasko was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, plating the game’s first run. An inning later, Scioto capitalized on an Eagles miscue and followed it up with a sharp single to center by Maria Wasko, tacking on two more runs to push the lead to 3-0.
Maria Wasko led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and showing poise both at the plate and in the field. She was joined by Alexis Richie, who also tallied two hits on the day. Defensively, the Irish were flawless, committing no errors, with Wasko anchoring the infield and recording a team-high 13 chances.
Big Walnut’s Sarah Adams took the loss despite a gritty six-inning effort, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out six.
With the win, the Irish improve their rhythm heading into a road matchup at Westerville North on Wednesday.
Go Irish!
