Westerville North High School, April 16, 2025 — The Irish bats were hot and Alexis Richie was even hotter on the mound and at the plate, powering Scioto past Westerville North with a commanding 13-3 win Wednesday evening.
Richie was an unstoppable force, driving in five runs on three hits—including a towering grand slam to left field in the second inning that cracked the game wide open. She added a run-scoring single in the fourth to cap off her offensive explosion.
In the circle, Richie was equally dominant, striking out 11 Warriors while allowing just three hits and three runs across five innings of work.
The Irish offense erupted in the second, plating six runs. Katy Joseph kicked things off with an RBI single, followed by Gina Wasko’s groundout that brought in another. That set the stage for Richie’s grand slam, which brought the dugout to its feet.
Scioto piled on seven more runs in the fourth inning. Lyla Magnussen laced a two-run single, Richie added another RBI knock, and Maria Wasko and Sophia Jackson each drew bases-loaded walks. Joseph delivered again with a two-run single to finish the frame.
Westerville North showed some life in the bottom of the fourth when Emma Polovick launched a solo shot to left. Gabby Botte and Ella Kacsandi also chipped in hits, with Botte collecting two RBIs to lead the Warriors’ offense.
Mallory McLean took the loss for the Warriors, surrendering 10 runs over three innings.
Joseph and Richie led the charge for the Irish with three hits apiece, while Abbi Clark showed discipline at the plate, drawing two of the team’s eight total walks. The Irish defense was flawless, committing no errors—Wasko led the way with 10 putouts.
The Irish improve their record and head into Thursday’s matchup on the road against Westerville South with momentum on their side.
Go Irish!
