Dublin Scioto High School, April 23, 2025: On a night filled with emotion and energy, the Irish celebrated Senior Night in style, shutting out Westland 10-0 in a five-inning run-rule victory. It was a perfect sendoff for Dublin’s graduating class—Alexis Richie, Sophia Jackson, Ella Sawin, Callie Akina, Miriam Sowe, and Bre Kay—each of whom played the entire game and left it all on the field.
Alexis Richie was untouchable in the circle, striking out 15 batters while allowing just two hits and no walks in a complete game masterpiece. The senior also did damage at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple and a three-run inside-the-park home run to help her own cause.
Dublin got things rolling early, with Richie’s first-inning triple bringing in the opening run. The Irish broke things wide open in the second, plating four more. Akina ripped an RBI double, and moments later, Richie’s inside-the-park blast cleared the bases.
Senior Bre Kay kept the offense rolling in the third, driving in another run with a double to make it 6-0. The Irish kept the pressure on all game, drawing seven walks and swiping four bases—two each by Jackson and Maria Wasko.
The bottom of the lineup was clutch, with Sawin, Akina, and Sowe combining for four hits, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Sowe and Richie led the team with two hits apiece, while Wasko drew two walks and was flawless at first base with a game-high 15 chances.
Westland’s Daugherty took the loss, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) over four innings. The Cougars were limited to just two hits—one each by Cochran and Valdes.
