Dublin Scioto High School, April 28, 2025: Despite a dominant showing on the mound from Avery Reynolds, who fanned 12 hitters, Scioto couldn’t find an answer for Delaware Hayes on Monday, falling 4-0 in a tightly contested matchup.
Reynolds went the distance for the Irish, scattering four hits and four runs over seven innings while issuing four walks. But a rocky start proved costly, as the Pacers plated three in the opening frame. Zee Brown kicked off the scoring with a double to center, followed by an RBI double from McKenna Coleman. An Irish miscue added another run to cap the inning.
Laurel Day added insurance in the fifth, launching a solo shot over the left field fence to make it 4-0 Hayes.
On the other side, Bronwynn Leighty was nearly untouchable. The southpaw spun a no-hitter, striking out 15 and walking just one in a complete-game gem. Brown led the Pacer offense with a perfect 2-for-2 night at the plate and handled 15 chances cleanly in the field, anchoring a flawless defensive effort.
Coleman, Day, and Brown each drove in a run for the Pacers, who stayed sharp in all facets of the game.
Scioto looks to bounce back Wednesday when they travel to Big Walnut.
