April 10, 2023 – Dublin Scioto High School: The Irish defeated Franklin Heights 13-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Lexie Richie struck out G. Cornell to finish off the game.
Bella Jauregui led Scioto to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Jauregui drove in runs on a grand slam in the first.
The Irish got things started in the first inning. Taylor Henry was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
A single by M. Lemon in the fourth inning was a positive for the Franklin Heights Falcons.
Henry earned the victory on the rubber for Dublin. The ace allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Richie threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
J. McKinney took the loss for Franklin Heights. The hurler went one inning, allowing 12 runs on six hits and striking out one.
Scioto hit one home run on the day, which was the Jauregui four-bagger in the first.
The Irish tallied nine hits. Jauregui and Faith Kinzer each managed multiple hits for Scioto, each getting two apiece.
Lemon went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Franklin Heights in hits. The Falcons was sure-handed in the field, not committing a single error. C. Smith had the most chances in the field with three.
The Varsity team plays again on Wednesday against Delaware Hayes at their field! We’ll see you out in Delaware on the 12th!
