Wednesday’s game against the Westerville North Warriors was a heartbreaker for Scioto, as they lost the lead late in a 13-6 defeat.
The game was tied at six with Westerville North batting in the top of the fifth when Tara Brumfield grounded out, scoring one run.
The Irish collected 8 hits and the Warriors had 13 in the high-scoring affair.
Scioto opened up scoring in the second when Isabella Jauregui singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Irish put up 3 runs in the second inning. Their offense in the inning was led by Jauregui and Caroline Piatt, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Sophie Minister was the winning pitcher for Westerville North. She went seven innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and striking out 14.
Taylor Henry took the loss for Scioto. She went four and a third innings, allowing 7 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6.
Jauregui led Scioto going 2-for-4.
The Warriors saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Ryanne Wilson, Minister, and Gabby Botte each collected multiple hits for North. Wilson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.
