On Wednesday afternoon, the Irish watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-2 loss to Pickerington North. The Panthers scored on a single by M. Duwee and a home run by G. Runck in the first inning.
Scioto struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pick North.
The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, with that Duwee single on a 1-0 count, which scored one run.
R. Coffey led things off on the rubber for Pickerington. The righty surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Taylor Henry led things off in the circle for Dublin. The hurler surrendered nine runs on 12 hits over five innings, striking out three. Lexie Richie threw one inning out of the bullpen.
The Panthers mashed two home runs on the day. Runck went for the long ball in the first inning. And Duwee had a four-bagger in the fourth.
Sandra Phrakornkham led the Irish going 2-for-3 on the day.
The Panthers had 12 hits in the game. Runck, M Cox, Duwee, Coffey, and A. Brown all had multiple hit. Runck went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Pickerington North in hits. They committed no errors in the field.
JV Update: The Junior Varsity lost 19-1, falling behind early. The Irish started strong in the first inning, when Madalyn Dean doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. But Pickerington North scored eight runs in the second inning, adding to their lead, and never looked back. Sophia Jackson toed the rubber for Scioto JV. The pitcher surrendered 19 runs on 11 hits over four innings, striking out two.
Both teams pick up again on Friday, at the Upper Arlington Golden Bears. Games start at 5:15! We’ll see you there!
