April 30, 2024 – Canal Winchester High School: The Irish returned to Canal Winchester to finish a game that had been rain-delayed after only two innings. And in a compelling display of power hitting, Lexie Richie led Scioto to an 8-4 victory over the Indians.
Richie hammered two home runs and contributed four RBIs, showcasing her dominance right from the first inning. She first went deep with a two-run shot to left field, following a run-scoring double by Faith Kinzer that kicked off the game for Dublin.
The Irish extended their lead to 4-1 in the second inning, capitalizing on an error by Canal Winchester. Richie continued her impressive performance with another solo homer in the third inning, cementing Dublin’s strong position early in the game.
Besides her offensive exploits, the fireballer also shone on the mound, earning the win by pitching a complete game, allowing ten hits and four runs, three of them earned, while striking out four and walking one.
Dublin racked up a total of 12 hits, with Sandra Phrakornkham and Sophia Jackson also turning in multi-hit performances. Meanwhile, Canal Winchester managed ten hits, led by Kendall Rudd, who went 3-for-4. Despite their efforts, including turning a double play, Canal Winchester fell short, with pitcher Grace Richards absorbing the loss after yielding five runs in two innings.
Looking ahead, the Irish are set to face Worthington Kilbourne Wolves at home on Wednesday.
With momentum on their side, Scioto fans have plenty of reasons to be excited. We’ll see you out there for another “Battle of Hard Road”!
Go Irish!
