April 29, 2024 – Westerville South High School:  In a tightly contested game on Monday, Scioto emerged with the “W” over Westerville South, securing a 2-0 victory thanks to a strong performance in the circle.

Lexie Richie starred for Dublin, pitching a complete game with 21 outs, striking out 10 batters, allowing just six hits and one walk, and keeping the opposition scoreless.

The Irish took an early lead in the first inning when Faith Kinzer executed a successful sacrifice bunt that brought a runner home. The momentum continued into the second inning as Sophia Jackson doubled to drive in another run, solidifying Dublin’s lead.

On the opposing side, Emerson Honea bore the loss for Westerville South. Despite a resilient effort, Honea pitched seven innings, giving up only one hit and two unearned runs, while recording two strikeouts and two walks.

Jackson was a key player for Scioto, going 1-for-3 at the bat and contributing significantly with an RBI. For Westerville South, Laynie Gibbs led the batting efforts, going 2-for-3 to top her team’s hitting stats.

Back at home, the JV team took on the Teays Valley Vikings Gold squad. They lost 14-4 but Makaylee Horiba managed to strike out 4 batters over five innings. Katy Joseph had a stellar night, going 3-for-3 including an inside the park dinger in the fifth!

Looking forward, the Irish are set to face Canal Winchester in their next game on Tuesday. With their strong defensive performance and strategic play, we’ve got a great reason to head down to Canal Winchester high school and support our team for this makeup game!

Go Irish!
