Dublin Scioto High School, April 3, 2025: On a crisp and rainy Thursday evening, the Irish put on a clinic at the diamond, rolling past the Wolves in commanding fashion, 13-0, behind a no-hit gem from Alexis Richie and a red-hot bat from Gina Wasko.
Richie was lights out in the circle, fanning 12 Kilbourne hitters over five no-hit innings. The ace allowed just two walks and kept the Wolves guessing all game long, painting the corners and mixing pitches like a seasoned pro.
At the plate, Gina Wasko was dialed in from the first pitch. The senior went a perfect 3-for-3, lacing two doubles—one in the second, one in the fourth—and adding a single in the fourth to cap off a huge night. She also drove in a run during the fourth-inning explosion.
Dublin wasted no time setting the tone. In the bottom of the first, Richie helped her own cause with a sac fly to bring home the game’s first run. Maria Wasko followed up with a clutch single to drive in two more and give the Irish a quick 3-0 lead.
An error in the second helped Dublin tack on another, and then came the avalanche.
The Irish blew the game wide open in the fourth, plating nine runs on seven hits. Lyla Magnussen ripped an RBI single, Avery Reynolds crushed a bases-clearing triple, and two Kilbourne errors brought in three more. Wasko doubled in another run, and Magnussen capped off the inning with her second single of the frame.
On the hill for the Wolves, Becca Boue’ took the loss, surrendering 13 runs (only five earned) on 11 hits through 3.2 innings of work. She struck out three and walked four.
Dublin finished the day with 12 hits. Wasko and Magnussen each tallied three, while Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a team-high three RBIs. Defensively, the Irish were flawless—no errors on the board—and Wasko led the way with 12 putouts.
The Irish head back into action Monday with a road matchup at Westland.
