The Irish Fall to the Westerville North Warriors After Fifth Inning Score

April 18, 2023 – Westerville North High School: Tuesday’s game against Westerville North was a heartbreaker for Scioto, as they lost the lead late in a 6-2 defeat.  The game was tied at two with Westerville North batting in the bottom of the fifth when N. Pyke singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Irish knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning, when an error allowed two runs to score for Dublin.

The game was a pitching duel for the most part, with both teams combining for 20 strikeouts.

S. Minister led things off on the rubber for the Warriors. The hurler went seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out 11 and walking zero.

Taylor Henry got the start for Scioto. The bulldog allowed five hits and six runs over six innings, striking out nine.

Bella Jauregui led the Irish with two hits in three at bats. Phrakornkham, who had the other hit for the team, and Jauregui scored the two runs.

E. Effren went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Westerville North in hits.

JV Recap: The Irish fell 19-3 to the Westerville North Warrior team. The bats were quiet on the day for the JV. The Irish scored on some Warrior errors and 7 walks from their starting pitcher K. Batten. Sophia Jackson pitched four innings, striking out 3, walking three, and gave up 6 earned runs.

Both teams head back to Westerville on Wednesday to face the South Wildcats. And don’t forget we have Senior Night on Thursday – announcements start at 4:45 so be sure to show up early!
