Dublin Scioto High School, March 25, 2026: A picture-perfect spring afternoon settled over the Scioto field Wednesday—mid-60s, a light breeze, and just enough cloud cover to soften the sun. After a competitive opening stretch to the season, Scioto returned home looking to set the tone in front of its crowd.
They did just that—and it started immediately.
In the bottom of the first, the Irish wasted no time putting pressure on Granville. Gigi Rodriguez delivered the first big swing of the day, ripping a triple that cleared the bases and brought two runs home. Moments later, Lyla Magnussen followed with a sharp single to extend the early lead and give Scioto full control from the outset.
From there, it became Avery Reynolds’ game.
Working with confidence in the circle, Reynolds kept Granville off balance all afternoon, mixing speeds and commanding the zone. Hitters struggled to square her up, and any early momentum the Blue Aces hoped to build never materialized.
Meanwhile, Scioto continued to add on. In the third inning, Maria Wasko lined a single into center field to push the lead further, while the Irish lineup kept the pressure on with consistent contact and disciplined at-bats. Abbi Clark set the tone with patience at the plate, drawing two walks, while Emma Gamez, Reynolds, and Wasko each collected multiple hits as part of an 11-hit performance.
Granville managed a pair of hits from Jillian Brownfield and Avary King, but opportunities were limited against Reynolds’ steady presence in the circle.
By the final innings, the outcome felt all but decided — a complete, composed performance on both sides of the ball.
Behind a dominant complete-game shutout from Reynolds and an explosive first inning, Scioto secured a 6–0 victory over the Blue Aces in its home opener.
