Two Irish Pitchers Rally Together to Shutout Groveport-Madison Cruisers in 1st Game!

April 8, 2023 – Groveport Madison High School: Scioto defeated the Groveport-Madison Cruisers 12-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Lexie Richie struck out Remeigh Harrison to finish off the game.

Bella Jauregui collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Dublin to victory.  Jauregui tripled in the first, homered in the second, singled in the third, and homered in the fifth.

In the first inning, the Irish got their offense started when Jauregui tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Scioto scored four runs in the third inning.  Irish batters contributing to the big inning included Hunter Fadorsen, Michelle Hernandez, and Jauregui, all knocking in runs in the inning.

One bright spot for Groveport-Madison Cruisers Varsity was a double by Tai Resendes in the fourth.

Taylor Henry took the win for Dublin. The fireballer lasted three and a third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero.  Richie threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Aly Roach was in the pitcher’s circle for Groveport-Madison Cruisers Varsity. The righty went five innings, allowing 12 runs on 13 hits, striking out three and walking one.

The Irish tallied three home runs on the day. Jauregui had a dinger in the second and fifth innings. Henry had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

Scioto tallied 13 hits.  Jauregui, Henry, Fadorsen, and Faith Kinzer all collected multiple hits for the Irish.  Jauregui led Dublin with four hits in four at bats.

Resendes went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Groveport-Madison Cruisers Varsity in hits.
