The Irish Grab Lead in Fifth Inning for Victory Over Canal Winchester

April 6, 2023 – Canal Winchester High School: Dublin Scioto stole the lead late in the game in an 8-2 victory over Canal Winchester on Thursday.  The game was tied at two with the Irish batting in the top of the fifth when Bella Jauregui homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Canal Winchester Red & Black got on the board in the first inning with a solo homer.

In the top of the fourth inning, Dublin tied things up at two.  Michelle Hernandez grounded out, scoring one run.

Scioto tallied four runs in the seventh inning.  Their offense in the inning was led by Sandra Phrakornkham, Jauregui, Lexie Richie, and Kyla Sander, who all drove in runs.

Taylor Henry earned the win for the Irish. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Richards took the loss for Canal Winchester. The hurler surrendered six runs on ten hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.

Brinker started the game for Canal Winchester. She surrendered two runs on four hits over three and a third innings, striking out six

Dublin Scioto launched one home run on the day when Jauregui went deep in the fifth inning.

The Irish tallied 14 hits in the game.  Jauregui, Hunter Fadorsen, Faith Kinzer, Henry, and Phrakornkham all collected multiple hits for Dublin Scioto Varsity Irish.  Jauregui led Dublin Scioto Varsity Irish with three hits in four at bats.

Kamerer went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Canal Winchester in hits.  Canal Winchester didn’t commit a single error in the field. McCrea had the most chances in the field with eight.

JV Update: Their game was canceled at the very last minute due to wet field conditions.

The Varsity takes on Groveport Madison on Saturday!
