Dublin Scioto High School, April 16, 2026: A heavy warmth hung over the Scioto field Wednesday evening, the kind of spring night where the sun drifted in and out behind gray clouds and the wind was blowing hard through right field. It was another divisional matchup with Westerville North—and with a packed week already underway, every inning carried a little extra urgency.
Scioto wasted no time setting the tone.
In the bottom of the first, the Irish capitalized on early opportunities, pushing across runs with disciplined at-bats and steady pressure. Maria Wasko got things started with a single, and the lineup followed by grinding out runs through a fielder’s choice and a key walk, building an early cushion before Westerville North could settle in.
An inning later, Avery Reynolds made sure that momentum stuck.
She stepped to the plate and launched a solo home run to center, extending the lead and giving herself even more breathing room in the circle—where she was already in full command.
Reynolds dominated from start to finish. Mixing power and precision, she struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing just four hits and one run while working efficiently through the Warriors’ lineup. Even when Westerville North showed flashes—including a two-hit performance from Ellie Albert and aggressive baserunning—Reynolds consistently shut the door before anything could build.
At the plate, Scioto stayed patient and composed, drawing six walks and continuing to apply pressure throughout. Contributions were spread across the lineup, with timely production rather than one big inning making the difference.
Westerville North played clean defense and competed throughout, but couldn’t overcome Scioto’s early push and Reynolds’ control in the circle.
In the middle of a demanding stretch, the Irish delivered a steady, complete performance, earning a 4–1 victory over Westerville North.
Next up: Scioto is right back at it tonight at home against Westerville South, with another game looming tomorrow against Centerburg. It’s a brutal stretch — four games in five days — and the Irish will need the crowd behind them as they push through one of the toughest weeks of the season!
Go Irish!
