Reynolds Leads the Way as Scioto Closes Out Four-Game Stretch with Win

April 19, 2026

Dublin Scioto High School, April 17, 2026: The sun was out, the air finally felt like spring, and the Scioto field buzzed with energy Friday afternoon as the Irish wrapped up a grueling stretch—four games in five days. The crowd showed up, the dugout stayed loud, and despite tired legs, the intensity never dipped.

Centerburg struck first, taking advantage of an early opportunity in the opening inning. A double brought home the first run, putting Scioto on its heels before they had a chance to settle in.

But the response was immediate.

Maria Wasko grounded out to bring home the tying run in the bottom half, and from there, the game settled into a back-and-forth battle. In the circle, Avery Reynolds went to work, powering through the Trojans lineup with strikeouts and steady command, even as Centerburg continued to apply pressure.

The biggest swing came in the fifth.

With the game tied, Centerburg broke through with a two-run home run to left, then followed with another RBI hit to stretch the lead. Suddenly, Scioto found itself down three in the late innings, staring at the fatigue of a long week and a deficit that demanded one more push.

They answered.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Irish clawed their way back—taking advantage of an error, a productive groundout from Wasko, and a key walk to even the game once again. The momentum had shifted, and the crowd could feel it.

An inning later, Scioto delivered the decisive blow.

Reynolds led off with a hit, and the lineup followed with a string of singles from Lyla Magnussen and Gigi Rodriguez, turning steady contact into a three-run surge that flipped the game for good.

Reynolds, who struck out 12 over seven innings, closed the door from there, finishing off a complete effort in the circle while also leading the offense with three hits.

Behind an 11-hit performance and timely late-inning execution, Scioto capped off a demanding week with a 7–4 victory over Centerburg.

Next up: The Irish hit the road Monday for a rematch at Worthington Kilbourne—and if this week proved anything, it’s that this team doesn’t fade when things get tough.

Go Irish!
