Perfect Spring Night Ends in Shutout as Scioto Blanks Davidson

May 13, 20260

Dublin Scioto High School, May 12, 2026: For the first time in what felt like forever, it actually felt like spring Tuesday evening at the Scioto field. The sun was out, temperatures climbed into the low 70s, and a steady buzz filled the ballpark as the Irish hosted Hilliard Davidson for Teacher Appreciation Day.

Before the game, teachers were honored for everything they do for students, and during the game were given out raffle prizes in recognition throughout the evening—a fitting celebration on one of the nicest nights of the season.

And once the game started, Scioto gave the crowd plenty more to cheer about.

The Irish wasted no time jumping in front in the first inning. Maria Wasko delivered the early blow with a two-run double, and Avery Reynolds followed with an RBI single to quickly build momentum.

An inning later, the offense kept rolling.

Wasko added another RBI hit, Reynolds ripped a double down the line, and Scioto continued to pressure Davidson with disciplined at-bats and relentless contact. Even when the Irish fell behind early in counts—seeing first-pitch strikes in 20 of 38 at-bats—they consistently battled back. Scioto hitters collected six hits with two strikes and averaged more than four and a half pitches per plate appearance, grinding through at-bats and forcing Davidson’s pitchers to work all evening.

Meanwhile, Reynolds was untouchable in the circle.

The right-hander allowed just one hit all game and never let Davidson settle into any kind of rhythm. Behind her, Scioto played flawless defense, backing the shutout effort with clean fielding and steady execution throughout.

At the plate, the Irish piled up 12 hits, with Wasko leading the way with three RBIs. Gina Wasko, Katy Joseph, Reynolds, and Maria Wasko each collected multiple hits, while Lyla Magnussen added pressure on the bases with two stolen bags.

By the late innings, the outcome was never in doubt.

On a perfect spring night filled with sunshine, celebration, and sharp softball, Scioto rolled to an 8–0 victory over Hilliard Davidson.

Next up: Saturday brings one of the biggest events of the season—the Dublin Triad at Scioto, where the Irish will host both Dublin Coffman and Dublin Jerome in a full day of rivalry softball, packed crowds, food, and community energy as all three Dublin schools come together on the Scioto field. We can’t wait to see everonye out there for the last two games of the regular season!
