Matter’s Walk-off Picture Perfect Ending In The Senior Night Irish Victory Over Kilbourne

April 21, 2023

April 20, 2023 – Dublin Scioto High School: It was Senior Night on Thursday and people turned out to congratulate and celebrate our seniors – Kaitlyn Zimmerman, Kyla Sanders, Isabella Jauregui, Hunter Fadorsen, Michelle Hernandez, and Taylor Henry! The stands were full, the games were exciting, and the taco truck was cranking out three-pound burritos.

On to the varsity extra-inning game!

The game was tied at four with Scioto batting in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored one run for Dublin.

A walk-off error during Leah Matter’s at bat led the Irish past Worthington Kilbourne 5-4 on Thursday.

Kilbourne got on the board in the second inning when an error scored one run for the Wolves.

Taylor Henry got the win for the Irish. The pitcher allowed five hits and four runs over eight innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Becca Boue took the loss for Worthington Kilbourne. Their hurler lasted seven and a third innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out five.

Of the team’s ten hits, Faith Kinzer, Henry, and Michelle Hernandez each managed multiple hits for the Irish.  Hernandez, Henry, and Kinzer each had two and hopefully got cake and tacos after the game! Congrats to our Class of 2023 seniors!

Two Saturday games are on the schedule for Saturday at Olentangy Liberty, weather-permitting, so we’ll see you out there!

Go Irish!
