Dublin Scioto High School, May 8, 2026: A gray sky hovered over the Scioto field Friday night, with light sprinkles drifting in and out throughout the evening. But despite the damp weather, the atmosphere carried a different kind of warmth as Scioto celebrated Senior Night for Abbi Clark, Lyla Magnussen, and Maria Wasko.
Before first pitch, the three seniors were honored alongside their families—a moment filled with smiles, hugs, photos, and the realization that while the season isn’t over yet, the final home stretch has officially begun.
And fittingly, all three seniors found ways to leave their mark on the night.
In the circle, Avery Reynolds took control early and never let go. Working efficiently through the Canal Winchester lineup, she kept hitters off balance from the first inning on, tossing a complete-game shutout and giving the Irish exactly the kind of steady performance they needed.
Scioto broke through first in the opening inning when Reynolds helped her own cause with an RBI single, giving the Irish the early lead in what initially felt like another tightly contested game.
For several innings, runs remained scarce as both teams battled through the cool conditions and damp field. But everything changed in the sixth.
The Irish erupted for five runs in the inning that put the game away for good. Maria Wasko delivered a run-scoring double, Abbi Clark added an RBI single, and Lyla Magnussen came around to score as Scioto’s seniors helped fuel the decisive rally in front of the home crowd. Gigi Rodriguez followed with a two-run single to cap the surge and send the dugout into celebration.
Rodriguez finished with two RBIs, while Scioto’s offense continued to pressure Canal Winchester late.
Meanwhile, Reynolds closed the door without allowing a run, completing the shutout and securing a memorable Senior Night victory.
On an emotional evening filled with family, celebration, and one more chance to shine at home, Scioto rolled to a 6–0 win over Canal Winchester.
