Abbi Clark Drives 6 Runners Home In Irish Victory Over Westerville South

April 17, 20260

Dublin Scioto High School, April 16, 2026: A warm, windy evening swept across the Scioto Thursday as the Irish took to the field for their third game in four days—a stretch that tested both depth and resilience. With the busy week in mind, Scioto opened the game with Lyla Magnussen in the circle, giving Avery Reynolds a brief rest before she returned later.

It didn’t take long for things to get… interesting.

Westerville South came out swinging in the top of the first, capitalizing on early opportunities to plate six runs and stun the home crowd. A sacrifice fly, timely hits, and a bases-clearing double quickly put Scioto in an early hole—the kind of deficit that can feel even bigger with the wind howling across the field.

But if there was any panic, it didn’t last long.

Scioto answered immediately.

In the bottom of the first, the Irish began chipping away as Magnussen delivered a triple to get things started. Then came the swing that flipped the energy entirely. Abbi Clark launched a three-run home run to right, igniting the dugout and cutting the deficit in a flash. Katy Joseph followed with an RBI single, and just like that, Scioto was right back in it.

An inning later, they took complete control.

The Irish exploded for nine runs in the second, turning a deficit into a commanding lead in what felt like the blink of an eye. Gina Wasko delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a three-run double, while Scioto’s patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning kept the pressure relentless.

And Clark wasn’t finished.

She continued her dominant night with a run-scoring double in the second and a triple in the fourth, finishing just a single shy of the cycle (after reaching on an error) while driving in six runs and powering the offense from start to finish.

Once Reynolds entered the circle, the game settled quickly. She was dominant in relief, tossing four hitless innings while striking out eight and shutting down any hope of a Westerville South comeback.

Scioto added on in the middle innings and played clean, composed softball the rest of the way, turning an early shock into a runaway performance.

After falling behind early, the Irish responded in emphatic fashion, storming back for a 20–6 victory over Westerville South.

Next up: Scioto wraps up a grueling four-games-in-four-days stretch at home Friday against Centerburg and after a comeback like this, the crowd will have plenty of reason to come out and cheer!
